Your role

We’re looking for a Senior Insight Analyst (Merchandising) to join our growing BI team based in Manchester. The role of the Senior Merch Insight Analyst is to support the PLT BI Strategy and act as a Business Partner across all key functions to ensure delivery of the required reporting, analysis and insight needs.


What you’ll do

  • Using SQL, Excel, Google Analytics and BI toolset to extract insights from data
  • Design and deliver periodic reporting highlighting trends and monitoring KPIs
  • Work alongside Merchandising, Buying and Digital teams to be able improve reporting and analysis
  • Create weekly sales analysis and support upon take fast actions on upcoming commercial calendar based on analysis of selling and competitive trends
  • Is proactive and plays a key role in developing the appropriate Buying & Merch reporting to support optimal decisions to be made to achieve best results
  • Lead and support functional workshops to translate business requirements into high-level and detailed solutions and reporting
  • Develop “as-is” and “to-be” documentation including process maps, business requirements documents and other key project deliverables
  • Applies comprehensive specialist knowledge of concepts, techniques and procedures of data analysis to the completion of complex assignments;
  • Works with client stakeholders to define requirements and communicate results
  • Work with other analytical reporting teams like BI and data supply team to support efficiency on regular analysis/insight work on where this work can be automated
  • Build systems/processes to transform raw data into actionable business insights
  • Apply industry knowledge to interpret data and improve performance
  • Bring passion about the PLT brand, customer and digital experience


    What you’ve got

  • Proven experience in an analytical/insight role, ideally with a Merchandise/Product focus
  • Solid experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of SQL, R and Excel as well as familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, SSRS, Power BI)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem solving aptitude, attention to detail and strong organisational capability



  • SQL Server (currently use 2016)
  • Ecommerce / Online / Merchandising – understanding of Google Analytics / Big Query / product/merchandise metrics
  • Advanced Excel
  • Strong analytical skills combined with strong commercial acumen



  • Power BI experience or similar (e.g. Tableau / Qlik / Cognos etc)
  • Experience using ‘R’, ‘Python’ or similar predictive analytics coding language
  • Commercial experience with an understanding of ecommerce, retail or FMCG data / information requirements
  • Stakeholder management and a general appreciation of stakeholder analysis and reporting needs
  • Buying & Merchandising understanding – product performance, margin, stock performance etc.

  • Assists colleagues by completing tasks outside of own job role when requested, including supporting associated companies.
