We’re looking for an Imports & Customs Specialist to work in our Imports & bookings team at Pretty Little Thing, focusing on our Imports and Customs. Working alongside our bookings team, you’ll manage international shipments across all modes from our global suppliers, working closely with multiple forwarders and the Buying and Merchandising teams at PLT HQ to ensure goods are cleared in a timely manner, all documentation and certification is in place and the correct duty and tariff classification has been applied.

With your keen eye for attention and excellent problem-solving skills, you will ensure daily bookings with our international suppliers, making sure that our stock is booked, shipped and delivered on time, and that key data and information is captured and stored to allow prompt and accurate freight and duty costs to be applied and paid.

 

What You Will Do:
  • Liaising with suppliers from the Far East, Middle East and Europe, ensuring that shipping documents received, compliant and are processed in a timely manner
  • Process shipment dates with various freight forwarders, ensuring product is shipped on time
  • Ensure Suppliers are following the correct procedures and flagging any non-compliance around documentation, shipping etc. And update supplier manual / portal with any requirement changes
  • Design, implement and manage duty tables, accurate tariff classification to ensure correct duties are applied and paid.
  • Responsible for HT code database and ensuring it is up to date with any changes/additions communicated to the relevant teams and departments to aid sourcing decisions.
  • Provide analysis of transit times for all modes, origins to B&M teams on monthly basis to help drive on time performance, supplier compliance and critical path accuracy.
  • Help provide analysis of freight and duty costs on a monthly basis
  • Ensure correct duty rates are being applied and work with Finance team to provide updates
  • Examine processes and help drive positive change

     

    What  You Have Got:

  • Good understanding of Commodity codes and duty knowledge for UK, EU and US Markets
  • Understand the basis of CFSP process and regulations
  • Knowledge of Bonded warehouse systems and ability to maintain and manage this would be an advantage
  • HMRC Customs Compliance
  • Knowledge of trade agreements, preferential agreements etc.
  • Good standard of planning, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and team members
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks, problems and issues
  • Builds effective and open relationships with all members of the Buying & Merchandising team

  • Ideally already has experience working in a fashion-based or retail environment
  • Have 3+ years’ experience with customs clearances, HT coding and using duty management systems and CFSP procedures.
  • Have worked with Freight forwarders and 3PL’s and be familiar with their processes and principal of their tracking systems
  • Is always an ambassador for the brand.
  • Attends training, meetings and other events as requested by senior management and the HR function
