Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced BI SQL Developer to join our growing BI team based in Manchester. The role of the BI SQL Developer is to support the PLT BI Strategy and act as a Business Partner across all key functions to ensure delivery of the required reporting, analysis and insight needs.

 

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the PLT BI strategy – Via SQL Server 2012 and the other sources (Google Analytics, CRM, Excel).
  • Pro-active development of the current database set up including data mart provision and ETL as required.
  • Support BI architecture needs including database administration. Work collaboratively with IT to ensure support for BI requirements.
  • Support the PLT business strategy – identify and champion BI / information / data opportunities to support the plans.
  • Ensure data governance – one version of the truth. Completion and maintenance of relevant documentation. 

Experience/Skills

Essential:

  • SQL Server
  • Ecommerce / Online / Marketing
  • Competence with Python, SSIS, SSRS and T-SQL
  • Exposure to/knowledge of BI tools (PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau etc.)
  • Data governance
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technology (redshift, Big Query, AWS, Google Analytics etc.)

Desirable:

  • SQL DBA experience
  • Building and maintaining datasets
  • Experience using ‘R’ or similar predictive analytics coding language
  • Excellent communication skills; the ability to translate complex technical information to non-technical colleagues is essential
  • Commercial experience with an understanding of ecommerce, retail or FMCG data / information requirements
  • Stakeholder management and a general appreciation of stakeholder analysis and reporting needs

  • Is an ambassador for the brand
  • Attends training, meetings and other events as requested by direct manager or senior management
  • Assists colleagues by completing tasks outside of own job role when requested, including supporting associated companies
  • Maintains own working area in a professional and organised manner
  • Always strives to improve the department’s operation and increase knowledge of own and related job functions
